Scott Family Amazeum Overview

The Scott Family Amazeum is a hands-on, interactive museum in Northwest Arkansas and recognized as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. We create a fun environment where risk taking, imagining, problem solving, discovery, collaboration, and exploration bring children and adults together to learn and grow.

Core Purpose:  The Amazeum exists to spark and nurture the curious and creative spirit in all of us.

Through experiences with the Amazeum, individuals and the community are engaged in building relationships and developing identities as creative, curious, and innovative shapers for the region. Learning at the Amazeum is an active, playful exploration that inspires curiosity. It is rooted in inquiry-based discovery and involves an element of risk. Hands-on learning opportunities allow guests to exercise critical thinking in the context of play.

The Amazeum facility includes approximately 50,000 square feet of indoor space and one acre of outdoor exhibition and activity space. The museum is located at the intersection of Museum Way and J Street in Bentonville, AR.

 Position Summary

The Volunteer & Corporate Engagement Manager is a strategic, relationship-driven role responsible for designing and growing volunteer opportunities and programs that connect corporations, community members, and subject-matter experts to the Amazeum’s mission in meaningful and mutually beneficial ways. This role focuses on building community connection, social cohesion, and a sense of shared purpose by creating pathways for community members to actively contribute their skills, expertise, interests, and passions to the Amazeum.

Rather than managing a traditional volunteer program alone, this role designs and implements a flexible ecosystem of corporate engagement, group participation, and volunteer involvement that strengthens the Amazeum’s mission and amplifies its impact across the community. The Volunteer & Corporate Engagement Manager will work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders — including corporate partners, donors, foundations, sponsors, and community leaders — to design engagements that expand the Amazeum’s reach and deepen its impact in the community.

Essential Functions

Corporate & Community Engagement Program Design

• Design and implement a corporate and community engagement strategy that aligns with the Amazeum’s mission, guiding principles, and organizational needs.
• Create meaningful ways for individuals and organizations to bring their skills, expertise, interests, and passions into the Amazeum in service of its core purpose—strengthening community connection through contribution, not just participation.

• Develop flexible engagement models, including individual volunteers, group and corporate participation, skills-based engagement, and project-based involvement.
• Design experiences that inspire first-time participants to become long-term supporters, advocates, and partners.

Volunteer & Group Engagement

• Lead the development and growth of the Amazeum’s volunteer activities and programs as a core strategy for community and corporate engagement.

• Recruit, onboard, train, and support individual and group volunteers for programs, events, and projects.

• Create orientation and training experiences that prepare volunteers to contribute effectively while being welcomed and valued.

• Develop recognition and appreciation practices that reflect the value and impact of volunteer contributions.

Strategic Collaboration & Internal Partnership

• Collaborate closely with internal teams to identify opportunities where community volunteers and corporate volunteer engagement can add value.

• Serve as a connector between internal needs and external community assets.

Training & Orientation Support

●        Lead new employee orientation sessions and create a consistent, welcoming experience that connects new hires to the Amazeum mission, values, and culture.

●        Act as onboarding “buddy” for full-time new hires during their first 30 days, providing purposeful support, check-ins, and feedback loops.

●        Collaborate with internal teams to create and maintain training content, standard operating procedures, and onboarding guides for employees.

●        Partner with People Services and leaders to ensure alignment of training with organizational needs.

Community Presence & Relationship-Building

●        Build and maintain authentic relationships with community organizations by representing the Amazeum externally as a visible, approachable ambassador for our mission and volunteer opportunities.

●        Be socially aware and attentive to opportunities for connection, engagement, or partnership, and share them with the appropriate internal teams.

●        Actively engage with internal teams across the museum to stay informed about initiatives, priorities, and needs, ensuring volunteer efforts, training, and community connections are aligned and well-supported.

Data & Reporting

• Establish and manage systems for tracking volunteer, corporate, and group engagement activity.

• Determine key data points to collect and measure (e.g. hours served, corporate versus individual participation, impact measures) and establish consistent methods for collection.

• Maintain accurate records to support reporting for various needs and audiences and compliance.

• Analyze volunteer trends and provide insights to improve recruitment, training, and retention strategies.
